Written by Louise Sellar July 5th, 2023 marked the 75th anniversary of the NHS. Leading up to the 75th anniversary of the NHS, National Voices had been engaging with the NHS Assembly to develop insights on what was working for people using the NHS and what could be improved. In May, I had the pleasure alongside other members and people with life experience of attending a special roundtable event. The Thyroid Trust was able to provide insights, share experiences, and raise awareness of challenges faced by thyroid patients. This roundtable event reviewed how the health and care system has supported people across five key themes identified by the NHS Assembly. The themes were: Prevention, Personalisation, Participation, Primary and Community Care & Partnerships.
I am very pleased to be able to share the National Voices report. The report summaries key insights and a set of recommendations for future action, with an overarching recommendation to the NHS assembly that this next phase must focus on getting the basics right. This National Voices feedback has directly influenced the direction and content of the final NHS Assembly report.
