Would you like to learn about a life skill that can help you manage the impact of your, or a loved one’s, thyroid condition - and any other health issues you may be facing?

Come to our September Information Event and learn about health coaching, with expert health coach, Barbara Babcock.

Barbara will explain the principles of health coaching and give a live demonstration, by coaching some brave volunteers to find a way forward with their real-life challenges, in front of the group. Through the demonstration everyone will have the opportunity to learn and gain some insights into their own challenges, by observing the coaching process which Barbara will explain.

If you would like to volunteer to be coached by Barbara (and have your coaching session in front of the other attendees at this event), get in touch and let us know:

  • What challenge are you facing at the moment that you would like support with?
  • What results are you hoping for from the coaching session? If it were successful, what would be different for you regarding your issue?

Please be as specific about your issue as possible, to help Barbara  to tell if this is something she can support you with on the day.

Health coaching offers a chance to positively address some of the challenges you face and bring about some changes in your life, perhaps gain a fresh perspective that might help you to generate some different results - for yourself or anyone you may be caring for.

You can learn to coach others and also how to be coached! How to listen, how to see things more clearly and how to make choices that can make life more manageable and enjoyable.

This is a taster session which Barbara has very kindly agreed to deliver pro bono. At the end there will be a chance to discuss options to explore health coaching further if it is of interest to individuals or the group.

About Barbara Babcock

As a Health & Wellness Coach, Barbara focuses on supporting people to live well with and beyond their or their loved one’s health issue. Topics Barbara often helps her clients with include taking control, coping with and managing their health issue, managing stress effectively, restoring emotional balance, managing family relationships, returning to work, determining one’s life purpose, how to look after one’s own needs as a carer, and more.

A credentialed coach with the International Coach Federation, Barbara has an M.A. in Coaching Psychology where her dissertation research evaluated the impact of coaching on people living with neurological conditions and their primary caregivers. She has also trained in Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Family Constellations.

Barbara has worked with neurologists in the NHS to design a research study evaluating the psycho-social impact of rare neurological auto-immune conditions and led a UK national charity the Transverse Myelitis Society. Barbara also brings the understanding of what it is like to live with a health issue and be a carer, having been in both positions herself.
