Thyroid Trust Ambassador, Michael Rosen

Director (Communications & Development)

Picture
Louise Sellar has worked in the UK construction industry for over 17 years. Currently, she is the Sales and Marketing Director of a manufacturing company in Oxfordshire.

Louise is the very proud mother of two children and volunteers at her children's local athletics club. She is a lover of the great outdoors, enjoying the activities of hiking, paddle boarding and wild water swimming. In the last five years, she has completed several ultra-challenge events and raised money for multiple, charitable causes.

Louise found out about the Thyroid Trust in 2020 following a diagnosis of Graves' Disease. The following year, she received radioactive iodine treatment. As a result of this experience, she is passionate about raising awareness, assisting in the education of, and supporting other thyroid patients and their families. Louise started with the Trust in December 2022.

Operations Manager

Lee's Picture
Lee Mathers has been working with charities since the start of his career. Specialising in small charity development, he would describe himself as a jack of all trades, master of none. This is mainly due to having experience of managing both front-line service delivery and backend operational functions.

Over the last 15 years, Lee has undertaken a range of roles for local and national charities including the Church Urban Fund. He has worked his way up to senior management level on more than one occasion and has built up a wealth of knowledge on voluntary sector operations. At the beginning of 2020, Lee started offering small charity consultancy to help fill the support gaps charitable organisations regularly face.

He is a certified member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising, an affiliated member of the Association of Charitable Independent Examiners and a member in practice of the Institute of Accountants and Bookkeepers.

Lee began working with the Thyroid Trust in the Summer 2021 and currently provides the charity with part time administrative and operational support. When not helping charities, Lee has a passion for music, playing many different instruments and bringing up his young family.

Co-Founder & Former Director

Lorraine's Picture
Lorraine Williams was the founding Director of the Thyroid Trust from its inception in 2017 until July 2022. She was the driving force in building the charity to become a leading, credible voice for people affected by thyroid disease.

Lorraine had previously set up and ran a popular support group for thyroid patients in London from 2010 – 2014 and in 2017 accepted the position of Director of The Thyroid Trust, working with the Trustees, volunteer Team and supporters to launch and develop the charity.

Lorraine stepped down in the summer of 2022 to pursue other interests, but remains a warm supporter of the charity. She has hypothyroidism which at one point made her very unwell and hence she continues to feel passionate about the Thyroid Trust’s mission, as a patient-led charity, to raise awareness and improve understanding of  thyroid health issues, advocating for patients, encouraging broad expression of patient experiences, running regular support and information events and producing videos, with high calibre speakers, including patient voices, as well as facilitating good quality peer support.

for everyone affected by thyroid disease
